Founded in January 1995 at the University of Tasmania, Australia, by Dr Teodor Flonta, De Proverbio (Latin: About the Proverb) was the world's first refereed electronic journal of international proverb studies. It published two issues a year until 2001 when Dr Flonta's Italian Department was closed and he ceased to be a staff member of the University. In 2002 De Proverbio the journal has been converted into e-books which can be purchased through amazon.com and other international internet booksellers. Between 2001 and now, De Proverbio has published 27 paperbacks on proverbs, 14 e-books and 5 CDs (bilingual talking dictionaries).
